I'm not really sure how else to describe it. In the Hobbit, you're experiencing Bilbo telling the story of the events. In Lord of the Rings, you're viewing events as they happen. Maybe its the abundance of CGI making it feel a bit like Avatar (not quite cartoony-, but not quite real-life), but it feels as though you're in Biblo's story. I saw it yesterday, and while the Lord of the Rings went for a realistic tone (as realistic as you can get in a fantasy setting), the Hobbit almost goes for that 300 style in that it feels like a story. I think its more how the entire 'feel' of the movie is different to that of Lord of the Rings.
But the amazing thing with the Gollum is that you can love and hate and pitty everything about him at the same time, including the way he looks. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill.before this is over.The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many."Īnd finally after so many years you get to actually see that scene where an invisible Bilbo is looking at Smeagol and he has the sword in his hands and it is so easy for him to just do it and he has all the reasons to.
